How to Rotate PDF Pages (Fix Sideways or Upside-Down Scans)

You scanned something, opened the PDF, and... great, it's sideways. Or upside down. Or you scanned a mix of portrait and landscape pages and some came out rotated. This happens constantly and I'm honestly surprised more PDF readers don't make it easy to fix.

How to fix it

1. Open the Rotate PDF tool
2. Upload your PDF
3. You'll see thumbnails of every page
4. Click to rotate individual pages by 90, 180, or 270 degrees
5. Download the corrected PDF

The rotation is permanent — it modifies the page orientation in the PDF itself, so the file displays correctly everywhere and prints correctly too.

"View rotation" vs. permanent rotation

Most PDF readers let you rotate the view (usually under View > Rotate). But that only changes how it looks on your screen right now. Close and reopen the file, and the pages are sideways again. Not saved.

What you actually want is to rotate the pages in the PDF file itself. Anyone who opens it afterward — on any device, in any viewer — sees it correctly. That's what this tool does.

When does this come up?

• Scanner mishaps — fed a document in the wrong way. Happens constantly with automatic document feeders
• Phone scans — camera scanning apps sometimes guess the orientation wrong, especially with landscape documents
• Mixed orientation docs — your report has portrait pages but the appendix has landscape charts. Some pages get rotated during the PDF export
• Downloaded forms — government and bank forms occasionally saved in landscape for no apparent reason

Can I rotate just some pages?

Yep, and that's actually the main reason I built it this way — individual page controls instead of a "rotate all" button. Usually you don't want to rotate every page. You've got one or two that are wrong and the rest are fine.

The thumbnails let you see which ones need fixing, and you just click the rotate button on those pages.

Landscape vs. portrait?

If a page should be landscape (like a wide table or chart), rotating it 90 degrees clockwise should do it. Page came out upside down? Hit rotate twice for 180 degrees. The preview shows you what it'll look like so you can confirm before downloading.
